TimberTech® AZEK® Deck Replacement in Eden Prairie, MN
When Eden Prairie, MN homeowner Kristin decided to replace her existing deck, Lindus Construction helped bring her outdoor living space to life with premium, low-maintenance materials designed for lasting performance.
The project featured TimberTech® AZEK® Landmark Collection decking in American Walnut, black TimberTech® IRX aluminum railing, and AZEK® aluminum framing. It also marked an exciting first for Lindus Construction, giving our craftsmen the opportunity to install AZEK® aluminum framing for the first time.
TimberTech® AZEK® Landmark Collection Decking in American Walnut
Kristin selected American Walnut from the TimberTech® AZEK® Landmark Collection for her new 12-by-18-foot deck.
The rich, wood-inspired color creates a warm, inviting appearance without the routine staining and sealing associated with traditional wood decking.
Our craftsmen installed the decking using hidden fasteners for a clean, finished surface. A matching picture-frame border adds a polished detail around the perimeter.
AZEK® Aluminum Framing: Durability Beneath the Deck
One of the most distinctive features of this Eden Prairie deck replacement is what’s underneath the decking.
For the first time, Lindus Construction craftsmen installed AZEK® aluminum framing, providing a durable alternative to traditional wood framing.
Unlike wood, aluminum framing is not susceptible to rot or insect damage. Its dimensional stability also makes it an attractive option for homeowners investing in premium decking materials.
The project incorporated aluminum joists spaced 12 inches on center, aluminum support posts, and a double aluminum flush beam. PierTech screw pile footings provided the foundation for the new structure.
By pairing premium decking with aluminum framing, Kristin’s new deck was designed with long-term performance in mind, both above and below the surface.

Black TimberTech® IRX Aluminum Railing
To complement the American Walnut decking, Kristin chose black TimberTech® IRX aluminum railing with a classic rail cap.
The black railing provides a striking contrast against the warm decking while maintaining a clean, timeless appearance.
Among the many types of deck railings available, aluminum is a practical choice for Minnesota homeowners because it doesn’t require the regular painting or staining associated with traditional wood railings.
Why Choose Low-Maintenance Decking in Minnesota?
Minnesota decks are exposed to changing temperatures, snow, rain, and summer humidity. Choosing durable materials can help reduce the time homeowners spend maintaining their outdoor living spaces.
Kristin’s deck replacement combines several low-maintenance features:
- TimberTech® AZEK® decking: Wood-inspired appearance without routine staining or sealing.
- AZEK® aluminum framing: Structural support that resists rot and insect damage.
- TimberTech® IRX aluminum railing: Durable railing with a clean, finished appearance.
- Hidden deck fasteners: A smooth deck surface without visible fastener heads.
- Picture-frame decking border: A coordinated finishing detail around the deck.
Together, these materials create an outdoor living space designed to look beautiful while reducing ongoing maintenance requirements.
